Side Effects from the Protocol
Typical of plant-based medicines, this protocol likely produces none or only minor side effects. That said, here are a few that I experienced:
Feeling exhausted during Week 2
Artemisinin, Platycodon, Gum Benzoin and Black Walnut Hull combination are strong medicines that can cause a feeling of exhaustion during the first week of using them, which is why I start with smaller doses at first to let the body gradually adjust.
I also recommend taking these just before bedtime to help with sleep and not interfere with your daytime energy.
Heat and Sun Sensitivity
I noticed that I was more sensitive to heat and the sun while on the protocol. So you may need to be careful about too much heat or sun exposure. This sensitivity went away after I completed the protocol.
Sense of Smell can Increase
After a few weeks, the Artemisinin, Platycodon, Gum Benzoin, Black Walnut Hull, and Zeolite combination can cause your sense of smell to increase; you may find odors to be significantly richer and more pungent.
Higher Sensitivity to Sugar and Sweets
After using the Artemisinin, Platycodon, Gum Benzoin, Black Walnut Hull, and Zeolite combination, I was more sensitive to sugar and carbohydrates. I recommend avoiding both sugar and carbohydrates as much as possible while on this protocol, especially if you are pre-diabetic or have diabetes.
Urine has Stronger Odor
The Zeolite can cause both your urine and feces to have a different or much stronger odor, especially during the first week. This is normal, due to it helping eliminate some potentially nasty body toxins.
Post-Protocol Chills
After finishing the protocol, I was experiencing evening chills. According to my integrative doctor, that was due to my body’s energy reserves being depleted from dealing with the initial Covid infection and 11 months of having Long Covid. I was able to remedy that in two weeks by taking:
- Ashwagandha – 15 grams per day
- Ginseng – 15 grams per day
- Shiitake Mushroom – 5 grams per day
- Reishi Mushroom – 5 grams per day
- Maritake Mushroom – 5 grams per day

Everybody is different, and you may experience different side effects than I did.
Contraindications With Other Drugs
I personally experienced no conflicts using the supplements in this protocol with anything else I was eating or taking. But I was also not taking any pharmaceutical drugs during the duration of the protocol, nor have I since I’ve completed it.
